Introducing
Cosmic Conductors & Gorgeous Gourds

White Mountain introduce a startlingly new range of extra special items based on Gourds that have been grown in the U.S Southwest. The Gourd plant, which is of the family Cucurbitaceae grows in many parts of the world and produces when dried, wood like, hard shelled fruits that are particularly good for use as bottles and storage containers, or cut open and used to make cases, now for the first time, for the installation of subtle energy circuits, allowing for the creation of our "Cosmic Conductors".

In order that these very special items should be imbuded with the right sort of energy, Gillian Lee of White Mountain called on the assistance of Southwestern Shaman Danny August, to help with the preparation and painting of these unique art objects.

Danny August on Didge

For over 20 years, Danny has been walking the way of the earthkeeper and guiding others on this path. He has received knowledge from many native and non-native medicine people and elders in the United States, Mexico and India, including training as a waterpourer (leader) in the inipi (traditional sweat lodge). He has also learned directly from the natural world and its beings, having spent thousands of days in the wilderness watching everything.

Danny has said that at the core of the native way is the connection to everything in the universe. This includes things that we can't perceive with our five senses. The shaman's, or medicine person's role is to channel this universal energy to others and to the land for sustenance and healing.

Danny's preparation of the Gourds includes cleaning away the outer skin, cutting the gourd where necessary using only hand tools, removal of the inner pulp and seeds, and painting with the design that Danny has felt was most suitable for the particular gourd and the occasion and the calling from spirit.

Medicine Gourd

This art object was fashioned from a Bottle Gourd that was obtained from Wuertz Gourd farm, at Casa Grande in Arizona. Because the Gourd has a rounded base it has been fitted with three round shaped feet enabling it to sit nicely on any table or shelf. It is aprox 7½ inches in diameter and aprox 12½ inches high. The top part is removable and the gourd may be used for storing incense, pot pouri, herbs, materials for smudging for example, or for storing any other dry materials or tools.

The skin of the gourd is crinkly and warty in parts, and these surface features have been incorporated into the design. There are three views shown around the sides, one depicting early morning in the southwestern desert, the next afternoon with birds flying high, the last night time with crescent moon. Acrylic paint and Dimensional fabric paint, finished with Polyurethane Varnish. Inside is cleaned but unfinished.

Note: this is a one of a kind unique art object and cannot be repeated or replaced once sold.
Price is U.S $250.00, shipping is at buyers risk.
